YouTube Money Calculator
Estimate how much a YouTube channel can earn from ads. Enter daily views and a revenue-per-1,000-views (RPM) range. The result is an estimate, not a promise of payment.
Per 1,000 views
Per 1,000 views
The default RPM range is only a starting assumption. Replace it with the RPM from your own analytics if you have it.
Estimated monthly earnings
$304 – $1,521
Per day
$10.00 – $50.00
Per year
$3,650 – $18,250
Estimate only. Real earnings vary widely with niche, audience country, season, video length and platform rules.
How the estimate works
YouTube ad revenue scales with views, so the calculator multiplies your daily views by an RPM range:
- Daily earnings = views per day ÷ 1,000 × RPM
- Monthly earnings = daily earnings × 30.4 (365 ÷ 12)
- Yearly earnings = daily earnings × 365
The default range of $1 to $5 per 1,000 views is only a placeholder. RPMs vary a lot by niche and by country. Finance, software and business topics aimed at high-income markets often sit at the top of the range or above it. Entertainment, gaming and audiences in lower-income markets often sit below it. If you already have a monetized channel, the RPM in YouTube Studio is the best number to use.
RPM vs CPM
CPM (cost per mille) is the price advertisers pay for 1,000 ad impressions. It is measured before YouTube takes its share, and only counts views where an ad was shown.
RPM (revenue per mille) is what the creator earns per 1,000 video views. It is measured after YouTube's share and includes views without ads. RPM is always lower than CPM, which is why estimates based on CPM look far too optimistic.
Worked example
A channel gets 10,000 views a day and you assume an RPM between $1 and $5:
- Per day: 10,000 ÷ 1,000 × $1 = $10, up to 10,000 ÷ 1,000 × $5 = $50
- Per month: $10 × 30.4 ≈ $304, up to $50 × 30.4 ≈ $1,521
- Per year: $3,650 to $18,250
The gap between the low and high number is large on purpose. It shows how much the niche and audience matter, and why two channels with the same views can earn very different amounts.
Frequently asked questions
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views? +
There is no fixed rate. What a channel earns per 1,000 views (its RPM) depends on the niche, where the audience lives, the time of year, how many viewers see ads and the video format. That is why this calculator asks you for a range instead of using one number.
What is the difference between RPM and CPM? +
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube takes its share. RPM is what you earn per 1,000 views of your videos, after YouTube's share and counting all views, including those with no ads. RPM is the number to use for estimating income.
Where do I find my real RPM? +
If your channel is in the YouTube Partner Program, YouTube Studio shows RPM in the Revenue section of Analytics. Use the lowest and highest monthly values from the last year as your range.
Does this include sponsorships, memberships or merch? +
No. The calculator estimates ad revenue from views only. Many creators earn more from sponsorships, affiliate links, memberships and products than from ads.
Why do Shorts earn less than long videos? +
Shorts are monetized through a separate revenue pool with its own rules, and their RPM is usually much lower than for long-form videos. If you post both, estimate them separately with different RPM ranges.
